Are there any rare or valuable 1945 Wheat Penny errors?

  • However, there are a few known errors in the 1945 Penny series that will also increase their value. Perhaps the most highly pursued error is a doubled die obverse (DDO), which is when letters or numbers are just slightly doubled. The repunch of the mint mark (RPM) for mint marks ‘D’ or ‘S’ where the mint mark impression has even duplicated resulting in a distorted ‘shadow’ effect of the original mint mark impression. Other errors which collectors look for are off center strikes, clipped planchets and die cracks. These coins can be worth anywhere from about $50 to a few hundred dollars depending on the error they have and the rarity thereof.
